Who We Are

The Kingaroy Veterinary Surgery began in its present form in 1987. We're a modern practice with a team of dedicated veterinary professionals and we look after all creatures furred, feathered or scaled. Our clients are domestic pets, exotic pets such as guinea pigs and reptiles, farm animals and (occasionally) Australian native wildlife.

We understand how important animals are to their owners or carers, and we provide a full range of services to help keep them happy, healthy and in top condition.

We aim to make you and your pet feel at home in our clinic with our friendly and caring treatments and consultations.

Our History

Kingaroy Veterinary Surgery was purchased by current owner Stephen Upton. The practice was located at the corner of King & Mary Sts in Kingaroy. It was a one vet/one nurse practice then. All the same, Stephen worked hard to build relationships with pets and their owners, and has now seen some owners through several generations of cats and dogs.

Alison Mollenhauer started work at KVS as a graduate vet, and Cassie Rea joined up as our second nurse.

The practice moved to a new, purpose-built surgery at the corner of Youngman and Avoca Streets, Kingaroy. The new surgery has 2 examination/consulting rooms, a pharmacy, a laboratory with a range of diagnostic machines, a dedicated theatre, wet area, kennels and an isolation ward.

Rachel Wood joined KVS as our third professional vet, and we added another veterinary nurse to assist her.

Megan Weller joined us as our fourth vet ... and yes, even more staff!

Why Choose Us?

Modern times are exciting times for veterinary practices because our vets now have equipment and facilities at their disposal that were once undreamt of. Diagnosis is now more accurate, and because of this treatments have never been more appropriate.
  • Pathology - blood machines at our surgery mean instant diagnosis of a range of conditions. For example, where diagnosing a snake bite used to involve some educated guesswork, now a simple blood test can either confirm it or rule it out.
  • Digital X-Rays - a digital x-ray machine purchased in 2013 allows us to easily peer inside animals for more precise diagnosis
  • Ultrasound - as with human medicine, this technology provides information on pregnancies that's difficult to obtain any other way

We pride ourselves on providing superior, quality care to both animals and their owners. Our dedicated staff care deeply for the well-being of both, and we think it's our hands-on approach that makes all the difference.

We also think word of mouth is the best recommendation a business can have. So ask your friends and neighbours about their experiences with our care.
